The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) hosted their 2023 Students Week themed BRACE UP

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) hosted their 2023 Students Week themed BRACE UP.  It started on the 10th till 15th of July. But before they started this activities, we had many events which we called “pretty-students week”. 

Pre-students week has different activities specially. That is when we have 

1. Carnival: This is the moment we publicized the the activities we will be having during students week. And also, used that opportunity to publicized the Institution and flyers were given out to the people. 
2. Honor God: This moment was showed to us that no matter what we want to do we must put God first. This activity is always come up on Friday (a week to students week).
3. Bonfire: Bonfire was also an interesting event. It also falls under pre-students week. This was when we gathered round the fire and we sang soldier’s songs. We normally do this on Saturday before students week.
4. Cooking competition: The cooking competition is one of the most interesting parts of the student's week the winner was rewarded. This is to show the cooking skills of the students. NIJ is producing the upcoming Hilda Baci and Chief 
5. Talent show: Talent show help a lot of students to showcase their skills to the platform and also to show what they know how to do best like singing, dancing, and comedy. They were also rewarded.
6. Medical Checkup: It is important to know your health status so during the student's week medical check-up was also included in the activities it was interesting because it allows the students to know their medical status.
7. Cultural Day:  During the student week cultural day was also part of the fun activities. The cultural day is mainly to showcase our culture through dancing, drama, singing, and outfit especially Yoruba Hausa and Igbo culture.
8. Sports Activity: The sports activities during the student's week help a lot of students to showcase their skills in football and running and also in other fun sports activities, and the winner were rewarded.
9. Entrepreneurship: These activities help the students and non-students to sell their products and also help to publicize their businesses
10. Awards Night: The Awards Night can not be forgotten as some students were specially recognized and rewarded. That was when I collected another award (Sportsman of the year) this was the same award I collected last year. I was so exited.

Finally, we ended everything at the Club immediately we finished from school. It was so fun and enjoyable. 

I wish I would be around when the Institution will hold another event like that. But I made a promise for myself that, “I will always attend Nigerian Institute of Journalism students week”.
